    Hi Guys,

I've just joined this website on advice from a friend of mine. I am having some BSOD problems over the recent while that I am hoping someone would possibly please be able to assist me with..

    Basically I am running

    ATI 4870x2
    E8500
    P5Q PRO
    4.00gb Gskill Ram

I reinstalled windows 7 a few weeks ago after experiencing "Bad Pool Header" BSOD issues which ultimately made my system crash - permanently.

I have re installed windows 7 and all was fine in the world for about three weeks...then I started getting the BSOD's again..this time saying 0x00000024.. etc

So I flashed the Bios with the latest version - so it went to BSOD Bad Pool Header again once. I have just re flashed it again and now it's going back to the BSOD System Exception Error (or something very similar)..

It says when I boot up windows again in the "windows has recovered from a serious error box":

I'm hoping to high heaven it's not a hardware problem....:( please help me!

Is there any programme I need to install to monitor this stuff? while it crashes?

    Thanks!

Just happened again...since the BIOS flashing seems to be really only happening when the graphics card is being used...Im going to try flash the BIOS with an older version.

I think i MAY have fixed it...not with the BIOS Update.

When I got Windows 7 I read that you dont need to install any Proprietary Software for your drivers - it does it all for you.

I only ever installed the HD Sound and 4870x2 ATI drivers.

I went and installed the Chipset and LAN drivers from the ASUS website and its looking like that may have been the problem as it hasnt BS'd so far....

I didnt think it was the graphics card - am running two 3008wfp 2560x1600 monitors and it wasnt dropping fps or anything while it worked.

Sorry I thought i had put up a post before that last one...i had installed the chipset and lan drivers that I had never installed before as I was led to believe that Windows 7 did it automatically...it appeared to be going ok till it BSOD again.

    Hi,

This looks like problems with outdated drivers; Saitek (3x drivers), ASUS (ASACPI.sys) and Macrovision (secdrv.SYS) are the first things I'd uninstall.

Can you track down all software by those 3 companies and uninstall it please - if you have hardware that requires them (Saitek), disconnect the hardware first.

Make notes on the software removed, if it's really needed, track down W7 compatible versions before reinstalling.

I ran memtest on my ram when this first problem happened- came out no problems - Last night I swapped the Gskill Ram out from the problematic computer with the Kingston Ram on my HTPC - instantly all the problems ceased - i havent had a BSOD since..

I have since also updated my drivers, thanks for your time guys i think this may have solved it!
