Gotta be beginning of last week now,
I had lots of spyware thanks to my sister and her curious net surfing antics, Well I deceided I'd do a firmware update and format my drive but came to realise my floppy disk wasnt connected inside the pc, so I felt about and realised that it had a socket not connected to anything, so I picked up a wire thinking it didn't have power, plugged it into the socket, SPARK, BOOM, Game Over. (Well not litterally a boom, it sparked but seem fine, so I powered off and it never came back on.)

Figured it would be the obvious - the motherboard so I purchased a new Epox 8RDA+, waited patiently, counting the minutes from when i purchased it from ebay. and when it arrived looking great, a glorius sigh of relief was emitted.
Hooked it all up and dum dum dummm hit the rockies, problem, it told me the 80 conductor wasn't connected to the primary IDE so I switched that around "like yess I'm so good, here we gooo"
booted it up, it started the oh so familiar process of booting up, paused a minute before the windows loading screen far from punctually arrived..BSOD!! so I'm like, right, the computer is taking ze piss" tried it again and again BSOD, no safe mode, no nothing all BSOD'd.

Stole my sisters laptop, bought a hard drive (with Windows XP already preloaded (thanks to the kind seller), counted the minutes, connected it all up..bsod!

I'm at the very end of my budget, patience and hair follicles, can someone PLEASE help, god you don't know how much I would appreciate a bit of well directed knowledge right now.

    System specs are now:

    Epox 8RDA+
    Mobile XP 2500+
    nVidia 6600GT
WD Diamondmax Plus 9 - 80 GB Hard Drive
    2x 256MB Ram (1 geil, 1 generic)
    500w Qtec gold power supply

    Please hear my pleas

try automatically hitting f8 when you turn on the computer and try to get into safe mode. It should let you in and you can find out what the issue is. If not or if you have driver problems, your gonna need to reinstall windows on your harddrive due to the hardware change.

Here is a link that describes the problem....

Like padams said...you need to reinstall windows...or atleast try a repair install!! When you install new hardware that is as significant as the motherboard or CPU... the operating system has to be reconfigured to accept the new hardware. Sometimes it works with a "repair" install, but don't be surprised if you have to do a clean, new install. If it works with a repair install, then that is good because you don't lose anything (files, applications, etc.) on the harddrive. However, if you end up having to do a clean new install, you will have to format the hard drive which will ofcourse erase EVERYTHING!! So therefore you obviously want to back up any important files before you format!!!!

Also...before you attempt the OS reinstall...you need to reset the CMOS, by pulling the battery out for a couple of minutes, with the system unplugged, ofcourse.

If none of that works...it could very well be that your PSU got messed up during the fireworks!!
