BSOD Reboot Loop

    Hi there,
    I'm aware that there are similar threads to this one, but none of them quite had the info I needed, at least the ones I read didn't, so my apologies in advance if I have in fact missed one.

    I am/was running an XP System
    I got a virus detected warning flash on my screen the other night (I was using Avast! as I was told it's better than the Norton's I got with my computer, I'm also not the most Tech savvy person out there).
    Before I had a chance to do anything the PC rebooted. Upon reboot I got a Blue Screen flash up which started the reboot cycle again. The Blue Screen only flashes for a fraction of a second so I can't even read it.

    I assumed my Windows had gotten corrupted, so I dug out my Restore Disk, unfortunately my PC isn't set to boot from disk first and when I try to go into the BIOS to change this, the entire system crashes.

    I've tried loading Safe mode, but any time I press a button, the system crashes.

    Has anyone heard of this happen before, if so, any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm at my wits end.

    You have my sympathy. I bought a new computer with a trial of Norton on it. I uninstalled it but should have used the cleanup tool. When I installed a firewall (yes, I did disable windows firewall), I ended up in a BSOD reboot loop as you are experiencing.

    Have you tried having the restore disk in with the computer off and then turning it on? The restore disk was the thing that got mine working again.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
    Yeah, I've tried booting with the Restore Disk in the drive, but it doesn't load, which is why I assumed the BIOS was set to just boot from HDD, and I can't get into the BIOS to change that setting..

    It's actually bugging the hell out of me, I'm about 5mins from dancing on the computer.
