Hi

What Windows version and Service Pack are you using and is it fully upto date with all Windows Updates and Hotfixes? (I know its likely Vista or 7 but both can have slightly different apps and fixes)

If at all have you installed any new software, hardware or drivers before this happened and if so what?

Does this happen at boot or when using a specific application or just random?

Memtest did you run each indevidual stick on its own? and no errors at all.

Virus scan what software did you use? if you have Kasperskey, then uninstall if possible and reboot and see if PC working ok, but do name all security software you have and it maybe worth at some point running our full malware guide HERE and attaching logs in the malware forum.

Have you booted your PC into Safe Mode (F8 at boot and choose Safe Mode with Networking) and is it ok?

Hal.dll errors are not always good to have as they can be difficult to fix.

yeah,

It Vista Home Premium 32 bit which is all up to date, i have done memtest which each individual stick several times, and used Seagate tools to test the Seagate Hard Drive.

happens once a day normally. i haven't ran safe mode for that long to be honest so i wouldn't know if it occurs in safe mode.

no new software or drivers, checked the windows updates as well to see if it had recently had a driver update.

will try uninstalling Kaspersky and see how that goes for the minute and let you know.
