    Hi guys,

I am hoping you can provide a solution to this VERY annoying problem.

I installed ADSL which uses a dialup in IE. Now when installed it loads up fine etc etc. When I reboot the connection is duplicated.

EG. now i have BT ( the name of the connection ) and BT_OLD. Now it makes the user name for BT something random and the password totally wrong, tries to dial up and messes up. Now I try and connect to BT_OLD and the password has changed too..!

SO you need to delete both, create a new one etc etc, every time I want to login. I have tried updating the software, but its always the same glitch, either using IE or BT dialup

XP with SP1 all the updates - mobo drivers etc etc, latest bios etc.

    Any ideas?

As you are using XP... try this... delete the connections from Network Connections, also check IE > Tools > Options > Connections for anything listed their.. if so delete them too.

Turn off system restore... reboot and install the ADSL connection software again, then open IE again and goto the location above ( connections ) and highlight your USB connection and click "always dial my default connection" > apply.

if that doesnt work try this free bit of software from BT to diagnose your connection problem and hopefull fix it http://www.btopenworld.com/helpbb/misc the application is called NETHELP

Since you're running XP, you could also go to Internet Explorer-> tools>internet Options>Connections Tab>Setup

Connect To The Internet>Setup Connection Manually>Connect Using Broadband that Requires a username and password

Follow the wizard from there (put in your ISP, username, and password). This will use XP's built in PPPoE connection, instead of the one from your ISP. For some reason XP and winPoet don't play nice together.
