Buffer Overrun Detected!

I am in dire need of help.....

I have a PC at my work that has this following message appear whenever you try & open internet explorer, (IE will not even open).

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Buffer Overrun Detected!
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IExplorer.exe.

I have run 3 different adware software programs, tried to update IE files
nothing seems to work, I am now at the stage where I am feeling that I may need to reinstall windows but dont want to do this if I can help it.

Any help would be appreciated as I have run out of ideas!!!!!!
