Building a boombox

So, as I am quite enamored with my Sirius radio at the moment I would like to have a boombox for it. Problem is that JVC borked me and they're not making a unit for my PNP. So I think that Ive come up with a conclusion. Let's see what the geeks think.
Parts:
JVC cassette adapter cradle
one El-Cheapo Cassette deck unit
Decent Speakers (probably better than any boombox)

Decent wooden case to hold all of this. Perhaps a toolbox reinforced with MDF for the speakers and sound deadened, that way I would have a nice handle and places to put eh antenna and other such.

Some form of a 12V gel cell. So that's the big question, does anyoe have any idea about what el cheapo radio and speakers and such would consume? I need an idea for what kind of battery capacity I would need for a few hours of play time. Say 6-8. The Sirius PNP draws about 1.7 AH for a normal load. Of course that might drop a bit because the FM modulator wouldn't be running. So there you go, a custom sirius boombox that probably has more power and nicer speakers for less.

 

I would have to do a search of google, to find them.......people around here use those battery packs for the store bought boomboxs........they are the kind with jumper cables to start your car, and make up cables to connect the radio......most of the time, they get seven hours of playing time, using the CD.......and they recharge in half an hour using the car to charge it back up..........in 1978 I made on that would plug into house current as well as 12v sitting on the back of my motorcycle, and used plywood.....wobbles

 

that's a good point. If I could find one with a built in charger then that would be great, then I could plug it in and run it from ac. good idea.
