Building A gaming PC

Hi All,

I want to build my grandson a Gaming PC, I have built others in the past but a good few years ago now. I have never

before built a gaming m/c. So I am a bit in the dark about what goes with what. Below is I think a list of the items I will need, I have a budget of £700.00, so I know it will not be a top of the range job. If I have missed anything off, please add it on. Thank you very much in advance:

16 GB RAM

700W PSU
Keyboard
Gaming Mouse
DVD Writer
Speakers
64 bit OS
Wireless Card
Joypad/Stick

Will you use DVD writer? I haven't used DVDs in years.

I'd drop the ram to 8GB and lose the DVD Writer. Spend that on an SSD.

Get a motherboard with built-in wifi so you don't need the Wifi card.

You will need a video card as well.

This m/c is not for me, at sometime the DVD writer will get used, with regards to the RAM I am trying to make future proof as much as possible winthin the budget, but I will bare in mind what you have said.

Thanks, it just goes to show how far behind I am. I didn't know that you could get a mobo with wi-fi included on it. The last time I used wi-fi was about 8 years ago, I now use powerline adapters. But like I said originally it is not for me. But I will make a note of what you say.

2. Not for gaming. 8GB is sufficient.
3. AMD is just fine, because it costs less and games are video card dependent.
