wow that's pretty good for the price. That should be plenty to handle the tasks you have listed. If you plan on playing any newer games smoothly probally wouldn't hurt to upgrade your video card :cool

That is a simply horrible reconmendation :-D, the stock HS&F is far better than that, it would just melt with that. I have an Akasa Revo AK-925 on my Phenom 9750, it will also fit the Athlon 6000+. Graphics wise a 9800 should take care of gaming for a while, this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500058

I had the Zotac 9600GT 512MB AMP edition, very good card I found so this being the 9800 GPU should be even better :-D

I cannot find the Akasa Revo AK-925 on newegg or tiger direct but this is the Akasa Site: http://www.akasa.co.uk/

It's a good CPU cooler I got mine for £19.00, nice an cheap. With that you can overclock the 6000+ and still keep it cool :dancer

Great, BTW I was going SATA because that mobo only has 1 IDE so keep it free, it makes transferring from IDE to SATA HDD's possible.

Last minuate suggestions... Hrm, yes more budget towards a graphics card LOL

Installing a PCI-E graphics card is really easy, just don't forget to push out the bit of metal blocking the bay :-D, the hard bit is taking it out if your not sure what your doing LOL, there is a little clip/flap you need to pull before it will come out. But once it's in all you need to do it secure it with a screw.

Good luck, if you need any help putting it together we can help here too :highfive

    what does that mean?

IDE is the only cable/transfer method used by hard drives & CD/DVD ROM/RW's, but they replaced it with SATA & SATA2, basically here is the run down:

    Transfer rates:

    IDE: 100MB

    SATA: 1.5GB

    SATA2: 3.0GB

Lots more speed is the answer, also the cache on the HDD's is important too. Higher is definately better (32MB).

A worse one than that probably won't play COD4, that 8600GT 256MB is really old & basic now, you might be able to run it if you have a small moniter (low resolution) depending on the card.

can anyone tell me if my processor supports 64 bit windows vista?

  27. 2-Bit-Geek

    2-Bit-Geek Sergeant

It takes a while, but i'msure you'll get there. Google helps too LOL

Speaking of google I have your answer, the AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.0GHz was actually the FIRST 64 Bit CPU according to this site: http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/amd_6000/

So yes it will work with 64Bit Vista, although getting 64Bit driver & stuff is the problem so I hear.
