I build a new PC and i put my old hard drive in it and it worked but i did not have Internet so i installed the drivers that came with my mother board and then restarted and got the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH. Any time i would restart it would do that. So then i used Partition Magic to move my files and then i formated the hard drive and installed XP SP2 it would get almost done and it would freeze up. So i tried a new hard drive it did the same thing. So then i tried a new DVD drive (The one i was using was a ND-3520A) this worked. So i tried my old hard drive and got XP to install. But it would crash and freeze frequently. and i could not get my files off the partition i made. It would freeze when i try to access them. So i tried the New Hard Drive and got windows installed this time it did not freeze as much but it still did. I got the updates and it stilled froze a few times. Then i used the Old Hard Drive as a slave and tried to access my files and it froze again. So i booted up in safe mode and i was able to download my files but when i get in to regular mode the PC still freezes.

I have and AMD 3200+ processor
My Mother Board is and Asus A7V880
Graphics card is a Radion 9800 pro 128mb
The Old Hard Drive is a Western Digital 120Gb
And the New Hard Drive is a Maxtor 200Gb
The New DVD Drive is a ND-3520A
The Old DVD Drive is just a plan Samsung Drive

If you can help me that would be great. Right now i am trying to get a new XP CD to see if maybe there was a bad sector but i put it onto another Hard Drive and into my Old PC and it works Great. The Sound Card is not Bad Because i also used that in my Old PC and i don't thing my New DVD Drive is bad because i also used it in my Old PC. Hope some one can help i am getting very frustrated. And also when i shut down my PC the Hard Drive shuts down but my PC stayes powered up. And that is the least of my problems as you can see.

A lot of information there to digest.

Anyway, all I can suggest is to first check that all your hardware is compatible with XP on the Micro$$oft site.

If it is, only vital hardware installed for now, then try to install XP followed by any updated hardware drivers.

Once you have a stable system you can then introducel your other hardware gradually.

I'd make sure that your heatsink is fitted properly. To me, this sounds like a thermal issue... but I don't know that for sure.

You might also want to check out the ram, try booting with only one stick, if you have more than one, and try to eliminate that as a problem (try each stick one by one).

You might also help by telling us what the names of the BSOD errors are.

I don't know what BSOD errors are.
But i did a RAM test and both sticks of RAM failed at the same spot in all of the slots i did them both together then i switched them then and i did each one seprate in eacxh slot got the same error on each one. Both sticks of RAM can not be bad in the same spot. Oh and one other thing is that when i try to shut down XP 3 out of 4 time only my hard drive shuts down and my CPU is run at 53 C is that too hot if so what could be the problem i got 2 fans plus the power supplie

when i start up my RAM says 1024 and (DDR dual channel/128bit)
my RAM should be at 400FSB

i don't know what is going on. This PC is ticking me off.
