Burn Problem

    All of a sudden after burning a disk the disk then gets an error message "Disk not compatible. Have tried three different burners, and used Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim disks, used Imgburn and CDburn XP. All got the same error message. Any help appreciated

    Could it be that what you are trying to burn is too big for the disc?

    Check the CD-ROM manufacture for a firmware update.

    In all honesty I never have had to update a cd roms firmware.

    Most of them are plug and play

    Do you mean you tried 3 different CD/DVD hardware burners?
    If so, were they external? If external do they have a Y-connector rather than a single USB port connector? If just a single USB connector and no power source, an external burner is not powerful enough to burn.

    There used to be a whole site dedicated to CD /DVD firmware - mainly to change region codes, some hacked firmware to increase burn speeds. But a CD/DVD also has a 'table' and if it can't recognize certain media it usually has to do with it not being listed in that table. So yes most are 'plug and play' ie work without issue, but they do have issues sometimes and that is why the manufacture will release a newer firmware.
