I created a Windows Movie Maker movie that is about an hour long. It plays successfully until about 45 minutes into the movie, at which point it begins skipping when played on my DVD player hooked to the television. However, when played on most PCs, it works fine.

I have read a variety of threads and posts from other forums of people having had this exact same problem. I have not read a clear, recent response. Some say it's an issue with cheap DVD's that have poor reflective quality towards the outer edges of the discs. Others say it's a problem with the burning speed and to try burning slower than 16x. Still others say it's a problem with memory or other programs being active during burning.

Please help me to understand where to go from here. Like many before me, I too have wasted tons of DVDs trying to burn successfully.
-Are Memorex DVD-R's considered cheap with poor quality around the edges?
-Should I be burning at a slower speed than 16x?
-Would compressing the file before burning help stop the skipping during playback?
