I would suggest using a different program. The only ones I know, you need to pay for to use, but I am SURE someone else can post some links to some free ones???

I am not even sure PowerDVD does anything besides play movies.....

If you want to pay the money, there is...

    Roxio
    Nero
    RecordNow!

    Good luck.

Those are all excellent choices (I have Nero6) and here are some freware programs available on Major Geeks. Try CDBurner XP (it does DVDs, too despite the name) and DeepBurner for general CD and DVD burning. If it's DVD movies that you want to back up, Try DVD Decryptor and DVD Shrink (this will compress them to fit on a standard 4.7GB recordable DVD)- both of these work great. Heres the MG link to the Backup page where they are all found http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads3.html

If you want a full-featured free DVD player, try Maximus DVD. It does Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound output and has many of the features that full-priced software DVD players have. It's almost as good as my WinDVD Gold, which wasn't free. It isn't available here at Major Geeks right now, but here is a link for it http://www.softlandmark.com/DVDPlayers.htm

dvd shrink doesn't burn movies. it creates a compressed file to fit a movie dvd ( 9 gigs) onto a computer dvd (4.3 gigs).

I use Instand CD + DVD by Pinnacle. It's about $60, but very worth it. You can use it to make backup cd's and dvd's for data, music, or movies.

Use DVD Decryptor in ISO write mode under Mode menu and it will do it. Use the copy and store the original, as DVD Shrink compresses the DVD data which reduces image quality somewhat. You can also use DeepBurner and CDBurner XP Pro to burn the ISO to disc. Follow my advice and save $60 to buy more movies.
