    Okay, heres what happened.
I downloaded music from a fileshare site, been there many times and never had this problem before.
One of the files I downloaded was corrupt or infected but I didn't find that out until I went to burn to disc.
I use Windows Media Player 10 to burn, which I have used before with no problems.
How-ever, this time I got an error message, "Code 39 - Unable to locate CD or DVD burning device".
I tryed again with the same result.
So I loaded Jet-Burn and tryed. Same results, "Unable to locate CD or DVD burning device".
After checking around I discovered that all my drivers for my burner where gone. So I have to reload and install all new drivers now.
But the manufacturer is giving me a hard time, they don't want to be very helpfull for some reason.

Does anyone know a site where I can download drivers for a Sony CD-RW CRX175E2 Burner?

    Thanks.

Being that you're using WMP 10,you have Windows XP.Have you tried using system restore?

Yes I have. It made no difference at all. The drives have gone for good.
My only choice is to find the right drives (Sony tech reps still want to give me a hard time, keep asking for the same informantion over and over again) or just break down and buy a new burner ( and you can be sure that it WILL NOT be a Sony).

There should be a default driver on your xp disc. ed

does the drive show up in your device manager window? if so, remove/uninstall the device, then reboot.

    Have to stop lending things.

I tried Device manager. No luck there.
It didn't show a driver for the burner at all.

Anyways people thanks for all you help but I think the only choice I have now is to break open the piggy bank and buy a new burner.
