I'm running a Soyo Dragon KT400 mainboard with an AMD XP 1.86 cpu 1.5g ultra Ram with an X700 ATI AGP 8x video card, an 80g hdd WD, a Toshiba CD/DVD w with a Samsung combo unit slaved in behind.
To start I only had the Toshiba installed (I play BF2 high end graphics) just resently it stopped reading disks in my game you have to have the disk in to play whenever I put the disk in the drive to play the game it doesn't read the disk and the drive light comes on and stays on if I try to acccess it through My Computer icon I get a messege "drive not formated do you want to format?" I tryed flashing the BIOS and CMOS and that didn't work. I then upgraded the BIOS from the Soyo web site and that didn't work either. This mourning I slaved in the Samsung and that works but I can't seem to figure out the Toshiba. I checked all the connections and they are good (perhaps the IDE cable is bad?) also I dismantled the Toshiba to make sure it was free of dust. By the way this all began after I accessed a file from my wife's computer that has crashed and I can't get back up.
