Hi, i was recently backing up my files on a CD, when i the burner started malfunctioning. I run windows XP on a Dell Computer. The burner is made by Veritas (40x\16x\48x), and the software it uses is CIS RecordNow DX.

The error i'm getting is this: after the CD is written, the computer verifies that the files on the CD are the same as on the computer. I get a message telling me that one or more of the files on the CD did not match. When i click "advanced" i have this:

    --------------------------------------------------
    Cd-r/rw CW079D CD-R/RW (E:) ATAPI (10SJ)

bad write. The verify data option compares data written to source files and makes sure there is no corruption. Try burning at a slower speed.
