burning home made dvds

well i just finished converting some of the vhs's i got that where home movies and how i got those files as mpegs on my hard drive and i was woundering what kinda software i would need in order to make a dvd out of them because i tryed just to burn them on to a dvd disk and it seems to work but after each file is done it goes back to this screen and u gotta select the next file

 

Are you saying you want to just have it play continually? If so you'd have to join the mpeg files together before burning them to a DVD. You can find simple joining programs or most video editing software supports joining files too, which you may as well use if you've already got something.

 

I love Nero 6 -- tho I bought the full version (I think it was $89) that includes all the bells 'n whistles (audio/video editing and authoring software, CD/DVD burning, etc).

I'm not sure if they sell the programs individually but the one you need (from Nero's suite) is called NeroVision Express 3. It allows you to drag in video clips (of any type, avi, mpeg, etc) and then create a DVD from them, with menus, buttons, animated backgrounds, etc. I've used many different programs like this, and Nero is the easiest and quickest. It also scans your computer to find the DVD burner and then burns the disc and the best speed.

One big word of advice re: your DVD burner: I have a Sony Vaio notebook with a 4x burner in it, and I bought 8x DVDs by mistake. 5 hours of support calls and 3 drives later, I realized that the problem was with my media and not the drive. You can use media that's slower than your drive (i.e. 4x DVDs in an 8x drive) but not the other way around.
