Burning Picure CD to show on TV

I would like to transfer my digital photos (stored in Picasa) to CD's that could be viewed on a TV.
I like to make up picture albums for my children and grandchildren. Has anyone some experience with this and can steer me to a good software program that doesn't require a degree in computer science to use. Also, I would not like to have to take a second mortgage on my home to pay for it.

Perhaps there are some good shareware programs (or even Freebies) that someone could recommend?

Your help would be very much appreciated.

Picasa is completely free and it will do what you want. And it's easy to use. It is only for Win2000 and XP though.
What operating system are you using?

    Hi Mulletgut

Thanks for the reply. I have used Picasa for the past 18 months, but only to store pictures. Never looked into other uses, so I must give it a try.
    My OS is Windows2000 Professional.
    Regards Breslau

The function are looking for is Folder>Create Gift CD
You will need to place all the photos you want to put on the cd into one folder as I'm pretty sure it works per folder rather than photos from various folders.
It will also add a copy of Picasa to the disc but you can select not to if you wish. You can also selct to leave the pictures in their original size so if someone at the other end wants to print one, at least they have the full size/quality one.

    Good luck with it.

P.S. Make sure you have the latest version.

    Sorry 'ol mate.
I'll keep an eye out for something else.
Is it a cd burner or dvd burner you have and what software came with it?
Most burners come with software which will make slide show cd/dvd's. I know for certain that Nero does.

I know that Nero will do that - I have Nero 6 (not sure about the other versions), and just recently put some vacation photos on a CD that can be viewed on a DVD player. I cycle through the pictures by hitting the skip button on the remote, but I am pretty sure that there is a way to make a slide-show with pictures and menus if that is wanted.

Windows Movie Maker, I have been told, will also do this - but I have never used this feature before tonight. I just now made a WMV file of some .jpg's, and while the movie plays on the computer like a slide-show, I have yet to try and burn it to a cd to play on a DVD player.

Breslau has W2K. It doesn't come with Windows Movie maker.
I have Nero 7, it has options in the menu, Make photo slide show(VCD), Make Photo slide show(SVCD), Make photo slide show (DVD) so what you say is right. Nero will make a slide show. I was just trying to find a freeware alternative for Breslau.

This is in reply to Mulletgut and Natakel. Thanks for your help and for taking the time to answer my request.

    While this may be "off-topic" I need to say it;

It is heartwarming to know that there are people in the world that care enough and spend time helping others, across continents and borders. What a world this could be if all the people in it would help each other instead of fighting, killing and destroying each other.
But then we would have to rename the "Planet Earth" to "Planet Utopia".
    Doesn't seem very likely, unfortunately.
