Burning software does not recognize DVD drive

Hi,

I have been using my laptop for several years to burn DVD's and CD's with no issues whatsoever.

Lately, my burning software will not recognize my DVD drive (E:\) when attempting to burn. Not sure what's going on and would appreciate any assistance you can offer.

Burning software:
- Nero 8
- Ashampoo Burning Studio 9
- PowerISO

None of the above programs recognize my DVD drive. :confused

I checked my Device Manager. There are no errors noted. The Device Manager indicates that the device is working properly. I attempted to update the driver via the Windows Update website, but no updates available.

Also, if I insert a CD or DVD with data (music, movie, data, etc...) Windows XP DOES see it without issues.

What gives? :confused

after the program scans there's a save button at the top. it will save as a text file. you can attach that file to your next post.

Thank you for the support. I have scanned my PC with Nero Info Toll and saved the txt file.

It says windows vista in the first paragraph, but there's instructions further down the page for xp. it's not exactly your problem, but it might fix it.

 

Unfortunately, your recommendation did not work. Any other recommendations?
