:(I just bought a LiteOn 24x external dvd burner. Used with CDBurnerXP I burned 2 dvd-r discs which cannot be used with my Toshiba DVD player. I thought my misery was over but I guess not.:cry

I am now going into the third day trying to figure out how to simply-burn a dvd disk with an avi file and play it on the big screen. There must be something missing besides 1/2 of my brain. My dell dimension 4600c is from 2003 but I hope there are still a few more "burns" left. rolleyes

Avi files will not play on a home DVD player. They must first be rendered by a program such as http://www.majorgeeks.com/DVD_Flick_d5530.html and this program will burn the disc automatically. Just read the tutorial before starting.

Or you can bypass the middle man and hook the computer up to your big screen.
Believe me, you will never use your DVD player again.

    Hi DOA,

The OP wanted to be able to burn .avi files to a DVD. His system may not have the capability to view them on a big screen. The 4600c as a basic unit had integrated video.
