I am using Windows XP, my processor is 3.20 Ghz and i have 1024mb of RAM.

I have some video clips i want to Burn to a DVD to play on my DVD player but i am having all kinds of problems. I currently have Nero OEM 6.6.1.15 at least thats what it says on the software, but i don't have nero vison or burning rom, i don't understand that only Nero Express. I converted most the wmv files to mpeg and to vob files. I tried burning three separate clips onto a DVD-RW but they won't play. I have messed up so many DVD-R's i am scared to try another one till i am sure what i am doing. Can some body help and why is it so hard to put these three clips onto a DVD so i can watch them on my DVD player? Thanks for all who help.

If Nero came bundled with your DVDRW, you're in the same boat I'm in: No BurningROM, no NeroVision (even though my NeroVision says it won't convert or burn, I simply close the warning messages and does it just fine). Use DVD Flick: http://www.majorgeeks.com/DVD_Flick_d5530.html It will convert the files and burn them to standard DVD format, and it'll do it fast! A full movie takes about 90 minutes. You can also try SUPER: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Super_d5117.html or try MediaCoder: http://www.majorgeeks.com/MediaCoder_d4987.html but these last two only convert the files, they won't burn. A great DVD Flick how-to guide is available here: http://beginwithsoftware.com/videoguides/dvd-flick-guide.html You'll probably want to print out the guide (use the landscape setting on your printer or else you'll cut off the right 1.5 inches). Good Luck!

Ok Dave I just tried something and it worked I have another Nero 6 Bundled disk with Nero Vision on it. I went to the Nero site and downloaded the latest version of Nero 6 here http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php and then used Nero Vision and it worked fine. Apparently even Nero Vision converted my wmv files to the appropriate format. Try it Dave I hope it works for you. Here is what another expert suggested for you or whomever is insterested...

Take one of your converted MPEGs and drop it into Gspot... http://www.headbands.com/gspot/. Then compare that to the DVD specs and format in 'WHAT IS' DVD to the upper right on this page. If you have a compliant DVD MPEG video, then you just need to author and burn it to disc.

You haven't missed much by not using Nero for conversions. It's not a very good encoder or authoring program. DVDFlick works fairly well, but for a few dollars, ConvertXToDVD is one of the best 'one-click' converters, and well worth the cost. I would recommend using ImgBurn to burn the DVD also.

To make a good DVD, you have to get the encoding right, then the authoring, and finally the burning. Your DVD media needs to be decent quality and your burner needs to work properly with your media.

If you just need a authoring program, try GUI for dvdauthor or DVD Authorgui, both freeware. Good luck and thanks again for responding to my post!

As I stated in my earlier post, my NeroVision DOES work, it just pops up warnings telling me that it won't work. If I close the warnings, and proceed with my project, it works just fine (most of the time, but it's slow). Instead of GSpot, I use AVIcodec (more or less the same thing) and I've been looking at ConvertXtoDVD for awhile now, but with DVDFlick being free, fast, and easy, I see no reason to pay for something when I get GREAT results from a free utility :D DVDFlick has ImgBurn built-in, and it does the burning of the DVD.... I mainly work with .avi's, very few .mpeg's, and I'm pretty stoked on my current 'toolbox' of free tools. ;) Thanx for the tips on the 2 DVD GUI's. I'll check 'em out.
