basically just for college, i used to play alot of games and i do not think this labtop can play games like call of duty 2 and that sort. I do want it also to store alot of my music for my ipod. thats why i wanted a 60GB hard drive. NOt sure if this labtop will be very fast and have good connection though?

If you mean internet connection it will be as fast as any desktop computer your internet connection is the bottleneck, the laptop will show pages as fast as your connection will allow :)

I already have a dell 4700 desktop now, but i go home from college alot and can not take my computer with me because of all the wires and such. So i am looking to sell it and buy a labtop so theres not many wires and i can take it everywhere..Anyway can that graphics card play DVD's good.

that should play DVDs fine. You only really need a stand alone graphics card for gaming as there isn't any 3D to render in a DVD.

Just my .2cents, its not a labtop. Since it doesnt sit on top of a lab. The laptop is decent, won't play any games but it will play dvds decently and do school work.

A little anemic on ram and hard drive size, but it doesn't look like a bad deal at all. I use an Apple Powerbook exclusively now. Its amazing what you don't need in a computer when you stop playing games ;)

Superior battery life and OS :)

I can get about 4 hours from mine, and the new Powerbooks with DDR2 and higher resolution LCDs are supposed to have 20% more battery life.

Ambient light sensors for the backlit keyboard, high resolution LCD, all aluminum case...

    That about sums it up.

Its preference, mostly. Its also about 3x the price. After warranties, I paid nearly 3000 for mine. Come next year, they will be built with Intel CPUs.

not to make this a pissing contest*

2200 got me a toshiba tecra M4 - 2.4ghz 2mb L2, 6600 128mb, 60gb, 1.25GB DDR2, 2nd battery (removes DVDRW) and WXP. Be warned that this setup is SO loaded with spyware that it literaly chugs to start up and do ANYTHING before running adaware/spybot/hijackthis!/System Mechanic and they provide absolutly NO backup dvd/cd (you have to make one yourself. Also I bought this system with MINIMUM amount of ram, since toshiba likes to rip people off.

I'd bet that nice setup of yours runs at least 20% slower than my powerbook with all that spyware, not counting the cpu cycle stealing antivirus ;)

No pissing contest here, I already said its not the best bang for your buck, but I'll do anything to dump Windows. Anything. As well, I needed the tax deduction.

When it came in the box, i plugged it in and booted it with 256mb just for kicks, um, lets say i got really bored waiting for it to load up and i just turned it off and put in the extra gig of ram. It starts with about 10-15 TASKBAR progs loaded (of which you need only about 3-4) it comes with about 20 programs that are ALL trial based 15-30 days, no anti virus, and old driver sets. System mechanic found off the bat over 175 registry errors, and spyware off the wazoo.. I worked on it about 1-2hrs before it was "blazing"; really pathetic. I need my windows for games :D
