    hi,

im thinking of getting a new laptop since school's starting soon for me and i won't be living at home anymore. i dunno what should i get. someone told me to get Intel instead of AMD.. i seriously don't know differences..

budget: max $1000 CND live in canada.
purpose: mainly for word processing, msn, music.. casual gaming, playing WoW atm.

well here's the cheapest one at my local store, i really dun care about the hardware..crazy single duo core Intel Celeron Pentium i don't even understand lol. i just want a cheap deal and which is better Intel or AMD for laptop?
or should i just go to dell.ca and get one..? or custom build..?

Truth, I would go for the maximum features. Things like DVD RW, wireless internet, wired internet, hard drive size,. If you can get add ons for free I would factor that in, things like printers, scanners. The actual CPU isn't as important as it would seem, at a certain level you have to be running the right software to see the difference. It is hard to tell the difference when your using a word processor, they were running pretty well back with CPU's were running a 100Mhz, the current crop of 2000+Mhz CPUs don't really work any better for business software. The faster CPUs show up on the top end games and video processing, just playing DVDs isn't that computer intensive.
