Buying More Memory....

Hey, I want to buy more memory for my computer. I checked the online website and it says it reccomends "DDR PC2100" by Micron. I have a Compaq Presario 6000 with an AMD Athlon Processor. It was $40 for 128 mb on Compaq's website. And im looking to buy some at Best Buy with only spending $40. And im only looking for 128. But I cant find the exact kind on BestBuy.com Does it have to be that exact kind?

One kind that I found is....Viking 128MB PC2100 DDR DIMM Memory
Model: DDR16X64PC2100


But I dont know what the Model number is or means.

** scratches head ** Can't be just a 6000. There is no model that is just a 6000. These are the only valid model numbers.

Figure out the actual model number of your system with these instructions.

 

When purchasing Brand name memory, From Reputable Vendors/Retailers, Most will or can Guarentee compatibility with your PC.
If in doubt contact, most if not all will have Customer Service or Tech staff.
You could run into compatibility issuses with the memory already installed in your pc.
The spec's of your current memory is important, and you should match what you have, I would suggest matching brand if possible but is not necessarily necessary.
Open your case check out the memory you have, will most likely have label or markings to identify.

As Da chicken posted, find your actual model # (will be most likely needed to gurantee compatibility)
