    Hi everyone,

I've recently discovered bad RAM in my machine and also that my Hard Drive may be causing restarts and so I am looking to buy a new hard drive, new RAM (I have 1 512 Block still so the same type again), and also a new Graphics card. I was wondering what people would recommend based on my current system, as I want to use my PC mainly for music production, but also for normal apps, internet, and games.

    Thanks for your time, cheers

    Mike

oops, you already have what u wanna do....my bad... A new x-fi soundcard should do very well for music stuff. If you're into modern games then i'd reccomend a brand spankin' new system, that stuff is pretty outdated

Yeh not too worried on the games side, may play MOH, Call of Duty, but will probably get a new PC later this year, so a graphics card I can swap over might be useful, not sure with regards compatibility, same with a new hard-drive

    Thanks

it's gonna be hard to swap over to a new graphics card later if you purchase an AGP card. I would spend $300 and upgrade that comp to use as a secondary comp later (you can always find a use for a second comp :)). You can get an AGP Geforce 6600 or ATI equivelent graphics card ($100-$150), a stick of 512 RAM, and 200 or 250 GB hard drive for about $150. Later on when you get a new comp, you can use this one as a file server, game server, or whatever you want.

note- I didn't look into other things that your mobo might support like dual channel memory. I just went off of what is on your posts

Cheers I think I'll do that, am a student now, so hopefully when I'm earning I can afford a new PC, and have a working 2nd PC,

    Thanks,

    Mike
