buying new laptop, need advice

Im looking for a new laptop, vista preloaded, about $700 retail. Is the quality there on ebay? I see some good deals, but Im hesitant. Newegg.com? Then of course theres the obvious sites, best buy, circuit city, etc.

I'm leaning toward an Acer 5610
15.4in display
1 gb ram
120 gb hd
built in camera
4 usb's
ethernet, modem
built in wireless lan
audio ports in and out

anyone know of any deals, good websites, or comperable models?

If price is your only concern, then newegg or tigerdirect or a similer e-tailer is OK. But keep in mind things like tech support and the value of calling someone who lives in the same town you do, and asking them for help on how to back-up your Outlook Express email (for example). You won't get this kind of support from ANYONE except for a small, local, independent PC shop. You'll pay a bit more, but it's probably worth it. PC's are not like microwaves and refrigerators where you'll get years of trouble-free use (a quick look thru the forums here at MG will verify that ).... a local PC shop (NOT BestBuy, etc) is a MUCH better choice: they'll recover your data, offer reasonable on-site service, and you'll have a face and a name to go with your PC and you won't be talking w/ someone in India or Pakistan for tech support. Think about it... is price the MOST important feature????? Besides, you'll keep your hard earned dollar local, feeding local people and keeping the roof over local heads.... something to think about (in my opinion)....

service and support is not my main concern our local pc shop (micro net) is almost a flat out scam. I'm pretty good with computers, ive replaced pci cards plenty of times, upgraded ram, other basic stuff etc. There is a younger guy who works out of his house that is outstanding if i do need any help. Still wondering about ebay.
