c++ compiler error

    fatal error C1083: Cannot open compiler intermediate file: 'C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\a03400in': Input/output error

    the location always changes when attempting to build the same source.
    EXAMPLE: 'C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\a03421in'

    why is it looking there?

    please note that i own visual studio 6

    problem resolved. anti virus real time scamming prevented the compiler from running.

    couldn't edit original post, sorry for double post. just thought it would be useful to other members.
