C drive running random?

I stupidly ran a downloaded file as run as administration.

A box came up in a window with an naughty word and said c drive switched to random. I did a hard shutdown and reboot, got errors with anything I tried to open off the harddrive. Everything else was fine windows vista wise. I restarted running chkdsk and when it was done everything seems to be back to normal. I am not computer versed in the slightest. I really don't know what I am doing. Did the chkdsk fix the problem or do I probably have something bad festering within my computer? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
