While pushing contents from drive C onto another, larger drive, the latter became drive F and will not function as master. Both were Maxtors and a Maxtor disk was used to transfer info. Can the larger drive be renamed or designated as drive "C" to make it work

The drives changed Drive Letters all on its own, or you WANT to change the drive letter of your bigger hard drive to make it your primary?

Either way, to change a drive letter, it depends on what OS you have. Assuming you have 2000 or XP, right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Manage'. Then choose Disk Management. Right click on the disk you want to change and choose "Change Drive Letter". Now, if you want it to be C:, you have to change the drive letter of the C: drive if it still exists first.

    Good Luck, let us know.

You don't want to change your boot drive to another letter. It is referenced dozens of times in the registry. It can be done as people suggest but BEFORE you reboot you will need to search the regisrty cor all entries of c:\ and change them to F;\

If you want to move the content of C:\ to a bigger drive run sysprep and ghost it to the bigger drive.

How to use ghost with sysprep:
