I've read somewhere that because of the UAC (I don't trust myself enough to disable it), they have trouble with modding games and thus create a C:/Games folder. How well does this work?

Also thinking not so much clutter of the Program Files folder.

could you be a little more specific? modding what games? alot of modern games are created with the ability to be modded and have a mod folder within the install location already.

Well, the one I mod is freeware/open source and my "modding" consists on editing the INI files to do weird things.

    Hi

You should just be able to click past the UAC messages to gain admin access to any files in the C:

The only issue I could see is that once you have modded or changed a file in that location as its not default install location is that you would have to run the game as admin (right click the games shortcut and choose run as administrator, and if that works then set the admin access as default, right click the games shortcut and choose properties > Compatability and at bottom click run as administrator)

However have you modded a file already and if so what error messages are you getting when running the game?

The C:\Games folder should work fine as its not in Program Files which is a protected location, not all games may work, but give it a try. DO NOTE that if you move a game to C:\Games then it will likely not show up in Games Explorer folder as main exe is not in default location.
