I was searching for something on IE, and it went spastic on me and froze up or crashed or something. I used Task Mananger to end IE, and I got a box that something went wrong with. Also, I noticed that MS Visual Basic C++ opened up at the same time. Before all this, I ran spybot and removed some spyware form my PC. I think this happened once before, recently, I can't remember.

I doubt using Spybot (or Ad-Aware) to delete spyware will cause the Visual Basic error you got. Spybot (and Ad-Aware) are conservative when removing files.

This is not necessarily true for antivirus programs, which sometimes find a virus, you ask for removal, then it will, but at the cost of other things not working, say Internet Explorer won't work after Norton fixes a nasty virus lodged deep in the OS, (big deal you'd repair IE, and more important get rid of the virus) I digress. My point is when Spybot (or Ad-Aware) remove files do not suspect error messages will result.

To the best of my knowledge, Microsoft programs like Internet Explorer aren't written in Basic, and I don't see the connection between killing an IE process and your VB message.

Was that a one-time error message you got? Have you seen it again? Or did it go away and vanish when you restarted the computer?

I got the error message again today, and I saw the visual basic program open up in Task Manager.

No, I have not went through the entire tutorial yet. I have updaged my Spybot S&D, and I am downloading Ad-Ware removal.

I ran Spybot after I updated it, and ts2.exe was still running. I noticed that it was not listed in Spybot list.

Where do I report bad links in this forum?

I'm going to go through the entire tutorial, but not all at one time.

You need to do it all or as much as you can in one shot. Waiting only opens the doors for propagation of the malware present on your machine.

I ran almost all the programs the tutorial listed, but I did not diable system restore, and I did not do it in safe mode.

Ad-ware SE seem to get everthing that Spybot SD did not.

The only problem I had was trying to remove Microsoft Java. It may not be there. I already had Sun Java installed.

    Thanks for the help.
