c:\windows\system32\net.exe

In the last to two days I’ve been constantly getting popup messages titled c:\ windows \system32\ net.exe

The messages say

The following services are dependent on the security centre service. Stopping the security centre will also stop these services.

SBSD security centre services

Do you wont to continue this operation? Y/N.

 

Can you post a screenshot? Have you already ran through the steps in the malware forum? SBSD is related to Spybot Search & Destroy, but does not mean that some kind of malware may be replecating it, especially in that net.exe can be malware related.

 

I am thinking it might all so be malware as well.
Try doing a windows Search for the file and see if any thing pops up in the search.
That's how i find some thing in Xp if i need to.

It is not malware. SBSD security centre services applies to Spybot Search and Destroy. Do you have it installed? Or did you have it installed and uninstalled it?
