Cable Continuity Tester

I have a few cables (cable assemblies) of various sorts - SATA data, Molex 4-pin m-f adapter, Molex 4 pin psu-15 pin SATA power adapter, etc which I'd like test to determine whether they are 'good'

I'd a gadget with the appropriate plugs & sockets on which would test the individual wires that made up each cable separately to determine total continuity or no.

Does anyone of one ? (preferably cheap)

I've had a quick look on the internet and most are Ethernet/lan esters (which I'm not interested in at present) and the rare SATA ones which are too expensive at £45/US$70

Maybe, try using some connectors like these so you can 'break' it out where you could use a multi-meter to check continuity.
4 pin molex are big enough you can use a multimeter, those small connectors you need some way to get to the contacts.

 

Thanks fellas for those replies, I had not found in my searches anything like either.

->musksnipe....rather costly for a few tuppenny h'appenny cables, and the specific examples don't do quite what I want...still, I will contact the company with an enquiry about something more specific...they seem to be to be the only company who makes anything other then pro network testing stuff

->foogoo...agree, molexes can be tested with a DMM, SATA are more "challenging" ha ha, looks like a useful connector for breaking out of a SATA cable giving access to the cable...it's a problem for me though, as I cannot solder, no matter how much I practice - I am very practiced at making a complete mess which loos as if it has caught fire. Still, a project which I might spend a few quid on.

Of course I want to avoid throwing out good cables but I don't wish to have dead ones lying about either

Is there a market for something saleable here ?
