About a month ago due to some virus problems, I had to delete and re-install a number of files. Since then, all the computers in the house can connect via wireless to the internet, EXCEPT for the machine directly connected to the router. After calling various help desks, all of which told me the router was the problem, i disconnected the router, plugged the cable modem directly into this computer, and lo and behold it still would not connect to the internet. So now I am assuming I have screwed up the network connection setup or ?????

Can anyone tell me how I might be able to get it set up correctly again ???

Do you have access to the setup screens of the router? The answer will surely lie therewithin.

Since you say you took the router out of the picture and it still would not work, and other machines do work thru the router, then I would say it's not the router. Have you tried an LSP fix on the affected machine? Many times, malware removal tools can get rid of the nasty, but not necessarily repair what they modified. What you describe is very common.
