hello all, i am having some internet problems. my cable internet provided by comcast is slow as helllllllll. sometimes it is as fast as it used to be, but sometimes it just freezes. i always have to go to network settings and repair it, but that is a bit tedious. i have a surfboard cable modem, and i have zonealarm, but dont run it alot. any idears? winxp sp2, pent4, 3.2, gig of ram

    Reset your Modem/Surfboard
I have a Motorola, on the back is little pin hole which I just stick in a paper clip to reset it.
Another way is to unplug it, Power/RJ45/Cable/PC everything for a few minutes, then reconnect.
I usually have to reset mine after thunder storms/bad weather.

Sometimes you can get slow down when comcast is serviceing lines in your area.

You can also call Comcast they can check your line/service without comming to your house, for free!

ok, well now i am on another dilema... my cpu was acting up anway, and it was getting a little crowded, so i reformatted my harddrive. i have a cable connection, (incase you didnt catch that from my last post  ) but it wont connect now. i am using the uber fast aol dialup, in order to download drivers and what not to get my cable back up. i have a dell dimension 8300, and have downloaded 4 or 5 drivers, some pertaining to internet, others to just the cpu. ok, so when i go into network connections, i see a lan connection which is my cabel, since that shows my true ip, and not the fake one aol gives me. i run internet explorer and stuff, but just can't get the connection to sinc in with my cable. here is the list of drivers i have downloaded...

    R58201-intel chipset stuff

D8300A07- bios upgrade, a02 to a05 or something like that

R58277- 10/100 LOM driver (i think that is the money one right there)

    R56237-Broadcom NetExtreme Gigabit Ethernet

some one help he out! downgrading internet is like going to perfect health to terminal illness!
