Cable Question?

Ok i got some more info...charter communications provides cable to our town...but i called and they dont service cable internet here...they do have it just not in this area....how is this possible since cable doesnt need towers etc...?

 

they may not have the internet equipment set up for your area. It may be the same cable coming to your house but it requires different equipment to communicate to internet enabled devices.

It may not be worth it for them to set that up in your area.

 

well my friend had just cable tv too n no internet...and he went n bout a cable modem at wal mart...unplugged tha cable from tha TV and hooked it into tha modem...then with tha ethernet cord ran it from his modem to his PS2 and he plays online ALL THE TIME!!!....would this work for me?

 

Personally I wouldn't risk it as the cable provider could find out that he doesn't have an internet contract and then get in trouble for doing so. If in doubt, always check with your isp. Our cable provider offers the internet through the tv but with all services, requires a contract for it.

 

Either your friend is pulling your leg, or you're pulling ours...
