Cacheman is a great program i'll definitly admit, but certain things i've heard sorta make me wonder about all the benefits of it. found a post on the www.2cpu.com forums (http://forums.2cpu.com/showthread.php?threadid=44825) that state that a few of the settings that cacheman either adds or tweaks are sorta useless. :-/ either way tho, i'll still have the program because its easy to use and is still sweet as hell to use :-D

Yes, the original cacheman was consider by most geeks the ultimate memory management tool. Rather then just another memory releasing program, it allowed you to manage various memory cache settings. Ill be curious to see how well it works in XP.

That article discusses setting L2 processor cache. Cacheman does not do that.

i do know that much, but there are other keys mentioned. IOPageLockLimit i believe is one of them, and a few others. i for one will admit though that i'll be downloading and using it becuase its one of the greatest programs for cache control ever. anywhoo :p

I used to like Memturbo a long time ago. It allowed more complete control of cache tuning ala cache block sizes etc. But, Cacheman is still king.

    Interesting.

I've always been about the power of DIY, instead of using an app to tweak, but this has peaked my interest.

    I think I like it :)

hmmm It seems amazing. But, for 1, I can`t disable WMI logging. Unchecking it, and rebooting to save the setting, and it again appears checked.

A few setting here tell me what they are, but not HOW to set them, such as DNS cache. The earlier versions left me with fewer questions. lol But I LIKE this version. Definately going to register.

Truthfully, I am running it now and very happy with it. Im able to maintain 700+ megs free of 1 gig of ram with multiple browser windows, Outlook, Spam Inspector, Zone Alarm, AVG, Cacheman, Windows Explorer and whatever else I am running after playing games like NFS Underground as well. It has some additional features in the tweaks, including the True Type font which for some reason is now clearer then it was when I enabled it manually. There are quite a few additional memory tweaks added in, backup options and more. Its a nice leap from the previous Cacheman.

Were giving away 10 registrations to the program as well. Nothing fancy or huge, just join the other thread, toss in your opinion.

ya know, Cacheman when setup initially never felt like this new XP version. Oh, ya knew something was improved, but not as dramatically as how CachemanXP feels. There is a "snap" now to how my system reacts. Almost like a silent whip. LOL And I have done pretty well all the major registry tweaks long ago, and the CachemanXP install still made a dramatic impact. One of the coolest apps/util.s ever concieved, just got cooler.
