Calendar Reminder Program?

Happy New Year everyone! I'm looking for a desktop pop-up calendar program. Years ago I had one with "Hallmark Greetings Workshop" program. I could type in an event and then choose "reminder" to set a time for it to remind me. When it was time a pop-up would show up on my desktop, even if I was logged off and my computer was turned off. As soon as I turned my computer back on...there it was! Unfortunately, everything in that program will still install now, except the calendar. Anyone know of a program that will do this?

I use Rainlendar Lite and love it. It is simple to use and very handy on the desktop.

 

The same OS I use on my laptop. Gadgets are still there. Free calendar.
