I have been reading thread 255905 and I realise that there is no Wins7 Home Premium Installation Disk with my new eMachines ET1831 and there is no System Recovery on any disk on my compt.Should i download an iso boot file and if so from where or create an image of my wins and if so how. I would appreciate your help on this as I feel I have very little if I get boot or system probs.Specs: IE9. AVG2012, RAM 3.00GB, Processor Pentium Dual Core E5400. thanking you. Boneyeye

Don't know about eMachines but manufacturers usually include either desktop icons and/or Start menu items that tell you about your machine and give instructions on its use, including recovery procedures and creating your own recovery disks. Are these not present?

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

Pertaining to the Windows recovery images: due to changes in and enforcement of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), Microsoft has forced the web-wide removal of free Windows Vista and Windows 7 Recovery .iso files. However, the image files can be downloaded as purchased software from various locations.

Both my eMachine (XP) and my Acer (7) have programs called eMachine Recovery Management and Acer eRecovery Management. You follow the wizard to burn restore/recovery DVDs and driver CDs. This is the first thing you should do when you buy a new computer.
I then follow this up by burning or storing images from time to time so I don't have to go back to the factory setup if the hard drive dies.

I have found all in Recovery in control panel as there was not any eMachines instructions either on Desktop or start menu. So I have created full backup disks and a boot disk after completing a full maintainance on my compt.I have also downloaded the manual for the ET1831. Thank you all for your help. Boneyeye
