McAfee's "Site Advisor" shows-up just fine in all of my User Accounts (in Firefox AND IE7) - except for one. In that one User Account, Site Advisor shows-up in IE7, but not in Firefox.

    What gives??

    Thanks in advanzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,

Thank you, and now it's all "coming back".

As you often point-out, I had attempted to address this issue "previously", but in failing to be able to remedy the problem in a reasonable amount of time and effort, abandoned the thread.

I get an error console log entry of "203" when I download from the link you provided, but when I go there (console), it looks like a bunch of "code" to me ("gobble-de-gook"), and I know not what to make of it.

Thank you just the same though, I usually tend to learn something from all banging of my head against a wall ... sooner or later.

Yes, to the extent which I had "steps" to take. I did not receive the "Edit Options" message at the top of the browser window. Otherwise, yes again, I believe I carried-out all of the steps.

Perhaps it has to do with my settings under Tools>Options ... ?

I had previously gone into Tools>Options, and have allowed SA (www.siteadvisor.com) through everywhere that I could see that it might need to get through (Content, Privacy, Security>Exceptions>Exceptions>Exceptions), to no avail ...

Just a thought. Are you trying to download under Administrative rights (Vista/ XP) or as a limited user? If limited user, can one download software programs or plugins?
I downloaded and installed Site Advisor just to try it out and it worked for me, using Firefox. Yes I had to click on the popup warning that FF showed, allow it and verified it in FF add-ons that it was there. Can't check for you as I don't have a limited account. Meanwhile I've deleted the advisor since I have WOT.

Thanks to you both, however, I am still (surprised?) having the issue.

    1. This PC runs Vista Home (SP1).

    2. It has Site Advisor within it's "structure", "protocol" - whatever the word is?

    3. Site Advisor IS ON this machine.

    4. There are a total of four (4) UA's (1. me, 2. admin., 3. my son, and 4., one for friends/family/visitors/etc.), and SA shows (appears/works) on ALL of these accounts, on Firefox AND on IE7 (yes, I downloaded SA for both browsers - both formats) - EXCEPT for one.

    5. The only problem is, that it simply does not show-up in Firefox on that one UA (though it does show-up in IE7 within the same UA in question?)?

Found something about "error 203" at this link http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions_(Firefox) Scroll down to "Unexpected Installation Error 203" and take it from there. Don't forget to check out the links as well in that paragraph. Hope it's this what you need.

Don't know whether it is a FF or Site Advisor problem.

Perhaps you can post at McAfee's forum about this? http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/forumdisplay.php?f=194 If you do so, please let us know what the solution is/was. Thank you.

    Good luck!!

Thank you very much, I will certainly look hard at the links. It may well be an "operator" (ME ... and me & Vista) problem though.

    Thanks again!
