o.k. I have this item "callingHome.biz" that consistantly comes up on my spybot S&D. I remove it but it comes back up on my next search. i have done the whole safe mode run all my spyware/anti-virus programs and try and remove it then but it still comes up. Has anybody ever heard of this callingHome.biz?

Normally where there is one problem there are more so follow the steps below.

To help us to best help you, please follow the steps below closely and in the order given and do not skip anything. If you have any difficulty, please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything along with details about any problems you may have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better. Don't be afraid to ask for additional help if you don't understand something!

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem:

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

    SpyBot S n D should remove CallingHome.biz :)

Certainly it used to, although with the speed that new versions of problems are being developed, maybe Spybot (if you have it already) is missing it.

According to what Rocky said in his first post, Spybot is finding it, but it is not removing it properly.

    lol.. he did indeed!

    CallingHome.biz

Tis common but is removable with Spybot and Adaware, (just done it today, picked it up while updating Morpheus), but the removal process needs to be done in safemode with the system restore off. tis possibly wise to run the scans twice for good measure, Spybot found the hkeys, and AdAware found the files which created/recreated them.

I checked via regedit and the two files AdAware removed were being called from
Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run one file was called Skarfk.exe and was in the system32 folder, the other was morphstb.exe which i assume was just linked to morpheus. As niether were there before i updated my Morpheus prog i can only assume they are linked.

    Hope this helps.

That should already have been done too. The first step of the READ ME FIRST is disable system restore and later all scans are to be run in safe mode. However we do not know if he ever completed the READ ME steps since he never came back.
