Have purchased a Digital Kodak camera for the wife for X-mas, it comes with Kodak Easy Share software, she has a Canon printer which also has some software for pictures, the Canon software is installed already, question is > can BOTH software programs be installed at the same time and if so can either one be used at her choosing - this camera stuff is new to both of us - her computer is a Win.98SE machine if that makes any difference - I have also purchased a D-Link 3 port USB self powered Hub w/ a 8 in 1 card reader so she can access the USB ports without having to get behind the tower -

    Thanks for the help

    HI

Yes you can have both installed and can use either to manipulate the pictures, however the Kodak software will default to save the images in a location it accesses easily, so to use the Canon software just browse to the location of the saved images from the camera.

You may in time perfer to use the better of the two applications or neither and choose another 3rd party appliction, their are many good free ones available ( but suggestions for that could come at another time as this topic is on those softwares you have listed above ), which is my pref, but the Kodak Software is pretty good these days.

Thanks Halo, as always GREAT info from you guys, I did fine a good tutorial on the Kodak site for this camera, it walks you thru most of the commonly used features, one more question if you don't mind though > the camera batteries, leave them in or remove when the camera is not in use ?? I ask because in the tutorial I see there is a clock, if the batteries are removed what holds the time??

    Thanks again -

    Hi JoeN

If you remove batteries you will have to re-set the time each time you use the camera, if its a rechargable litiumION battery thats used or in the case of some that use AAs then you can get rechargable AAs and always have some in the camera and a set charged, this way your not always buying loads of normal batteries, unless not using for a long time in which its advisable to remove the battery, the time setting doesnt take too long to do to be honest.

Very good idea to read up on the manuals and guides before hand, if you have not seen this bit on the Kodak website http://kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-locale=en_US&pq-path=38&_requestid=11120 its worth a read as they have some nice tips not just on taking pics but printing them too.

    Nice camera :)

Personally I would format the card, altho many if not all are pre formatted these days and the camera on first use will create its own storage folder on the card.
