I installed a new Intel 670p M.2 drive in a kid's gaming rig. My last experience with this was not good and I had to install a fresh copy of Windows in the new drive after it wouldn't boot after running the Samsung transfer software. all the old files became sub-files in the new SSD, which is still a PITA.
Is there a cloning tool that will work the way I want it to?

You can clone any disk regardless of type but to clone a system disk you have to do it outside of Windows. Use bootable cloning software or do it with imaging software such as Macrium Reflect. The latter reboots into its cloning feature before performing the cloning operation.

I've successfully cloned the OS drive to an external drive using the free version of Aomei, and the cloned drive booted up just fine.
