can a monitor crash a pc?

hi just have a quick question.
have a pc that runs fine with an old crt monitor, but when a new 19" lcd is put on, it crahes. just wanted to know can it be something wrong with the monitor, videocard or something else?

 

What do you mean by it "crashes"?

 

get blue screen error.

 

before Windows starts to load or after it starts to load?

 

it boots to windows can see desktop and icons then crashes 10 secs later

 

Is there any sort of error message that could give a clue? Anything that doesn't just say "fatal exception at 0e:xxxxxx" ? It sounds like the cable isn't plugged in all the way, or something in the connection is making the video card finicky.

 

Dumb answer maybe, but hey it usually is the simple ones we miss!!!! Have you installed the driver for the LCD screen and uninstalled the CRT driver?????

 

umm i feel stupid for this but yes it was the drivers. thankyou for help

 

What you could have done was boot into safe mode where it uses the standard VGA drivers. then go to device manager and fix the error in safe mode.
