    Hi
I had an email from my internet provider saying,
Quote Unfortunately, provider has been contacted by legal representatives of Paramount Pictures regarding the illegal downloading of copyrighted material. They have identified that a provider subscriber has illegally accessed their material on the internet and that they will consider legal proceedings against provider if this activity does not cease. Stop Quote
My question is, I always use pure VPN, so they should not be able to tell it was who connected to a torrent site? there is no way to trace me that I missed? it would only show i downloaded from pure VPN server not a torrent site? provider is my internet service provider which a community based one .
    Thanks

A VPN Encrypts your traffic through a secure tunnel to the end point, it does NOT provide you with anonymity by hiding your location.
Your ISP wont be able to read the data chain, but they will know your using a VPN so they will investigate further if required.

In a lot of cases your IP address can be leaked, however DNS leaks are your biggest worry.
Most criminals are also caught because the MAC addy's of their Network adapters, stick out like piss holes in the snow!
You need to spoof your MAC address and sure-up any DNS leaks, among a lot of other preventative measures required.

This is how VPN providers make their money, they know that most users dont understand whats really going on, so they feed you just what you want to hear.

Many VPN providers keep records and will give that info when requested. That is why you find a VPN that doesn't keep logs, so there is nothing to hand over when they receive a DMCA request.

Thats true......Find yourself a good VPN provider and Yes, it will cost your $$ as very little thats worthwhile is free.
Your VPN provider should also have an embedded protection against DNS leaks, as well as the ability to pay monthly fees in Cryptocurrency if you so choose.
All of your requests should be resolved by your VPN's servers rather than being routed through your ISP.

I use Mullvad....it costs me 7 Euro's per month, but it only requires an email address to activate for which you can use a junk Hotmail or Gmail addy.

Also, consider utilizing a Static IP address in order to sure up any bypassing of these requests.

    Good Luck.

My VPN by choice is NORD VPN. I have been using it for about 2 years now and I won't change my VPN.

Thats cool.....what works for you is always the best choice.

Can you run a DNS leak test and check results whilst tunnelling ?
