Hello all first off first time poster so am gonna use thees first lines to say "Greetings all!".

Well lets get to it shall we?
I have some questions regarding hardware buying a new computer and been a while since i did it last anyone want to get me a bit up to speed here? That who'd Be awesome....

    Questions:
When buying a GFX Card is it better to
A: Most RAM and compromise on Clock Speed? or
B: Clock Speed and a Little less RAM?

When choosing a GFX Card i am a Intel man so. (Leaning towards NVIDIA this time)
    A: NVIDIA ? or
    B: ATI ?

This is purely a gaming rig and graphics at FULL and NO LAG is a must for me.
So all tips on a setup is greatly appreciated.

Also let me say am sorry for my bad spelling, I try my best.

    Thanks

    Greetings and Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Big question, I or others may have, is price. What is the max money you are willing to spend?

Also, some specs on your current setup would be quite beneficial.

Also, lag can come from multiple areas. Single player lag, or multiplayer lag. Multiplayer lag usually can be blamed on your nic or ISP.

    Thanks for your replays .
    My current Specs Are:
    Intel Core 2 Duo 3.66GHz
    ATI Radeon HD 4670
    3 GB DDR 2
    Gigabyte Mainboard Something something.

But i was thinking of building a new one as you can see my computer ATM isn't that good. I just need someone to tell me the latest ropes.
    NVIDIA ore ATI?
    Intel or AMD?
Pros and Cons i hope this isn't to mutch of a hassle to ask for being a new member and all.

    Thanks

    Watru,
I would Google a graphic card review site.
Have had no problem with Nvidia but I am not a gamer.
Overclocking laptops are not high on many member's list. IMHO

    Welcome to MGs

I have built a lot of PCs and in the main have used Nvidia cards, they are not the cheapest but so far the reliability has been excellent.

Again we would need a budget to have some idea of how high a spec we can go for you plus will you be building a new PC or using your original as a base to upgrade (personally i would start from scratch) but that would need to include an operating system in the budget.

No doubt Augie will jump in here as he is a very good PC builder, so you will get all the help you need right here.

    Buying a Video Card (VC) is best defined by;
    - Interface PCIe 2.0 (older) or 2.1
    Then you want to consider the Memory Interface (that is how much data can be thrown at it at once (a clock cycle);
    - Mem Interface of 256-bit

    Clock speeds are here!

Then you may consider the vRAM (Video Card RAM) but this is purely a "retentive element", in other words the more there is the more it stores. If you are playing a game whr you bounce back and into an environment that is where it is a benefit.

Yes mmorpg's in and out of an instance where the sysstem "loads" the next scene. If you find you are going back and forth here this is when the vRAM is a benefit.

Your order looks fairly solid imho but you also need to consider the series of card at the top of the Hireachy, that is what year and therefore potential processing power of the GPU. Series will also indicate DX11.0 and other forms of technology.

Two of the best guides are, page two of these is also great for estimates on PSU:
