Can anyone help me?? third time posting...

I have an ibm t20 think pad running on windows 98se....the ultrabay2000 device bay isnt reading my cd-rw drive(teac cd-w28e) nor my dvd drive (toshiba sd-c2302), but has no problem reading the floppy drive.....any one know how to resolve this??

 

can you explain what you mean by reading?
are the drives not showing up?
or are you having trouble reading from CD's or DVD's?

 

did the teac and toshiba drives come with your laptop?

 

everytime i install the drives an error window pops up saying...Failure! system has failed to load device drivers. Ultrabay 2000 device is not configured. please remove the ultrabay 2000 device from system..........not sure if they originally came with the laptop....but the drives were working before....i was able to play cds and dvds with no problem

 

sounds like corrupted drivers to me. have you tried finding newer drivers for the ultrabay 2000 device?

 

i tried searching at ibm, but didnt find anything.....yet again im not really to hip on all this....so any help would be highly appreciated

 

It would help to know where these devices came from. Perhaps they were bought 3rd party. If they were, there may be drivers available from that vendors website.

I tried that one already kodo. That one there, i believe, is only for the ultrabay itself, not for the acutual drives....but thanks anyways....i called teac and they said this particular drive doesnt require any drivers. And tried calling ibm for tech support, but them mofu's want to charge me $30 for some over the phone tech support, since the warranty on the laptop has expired.

i also tried goin through the add hardware program, but this cd-rom isnt on the list of cd-rom devices.....i dont really much care bout the dvd, alls i want is to get the cd-rw working so i can burn some cd's

 

is there an Ultrabay 2000 device listed in your devic manager?
