Can anyone tell me how to password protect a file?

Link to some info as it would take a while to type many various ways to protect files as it varies from OS to OS etc

plus there are many many 3rd party encryption programs it would take a while to go into all of them.


but reading your last post your not really after how to password but how to unlock one? ... not an easy task... could the sender not give you the password?

 

I see your predicament.... passwords and getting past them, their and way too many permutations, if you knew this person or about their family, hobbies etc you may just stumble across the password... many users still uses simple passwords and in pets names, sports teams, faimily members names.
