Can anyone tell me if C&C Generals would run OK on this config?

i dunno aboout the gfx card. my spare pc which has a Duron 1GHZ 256mb RAM and a MSI GeForce4 MX4000 and it runs good.

 

I would have to agree, the graphics card is the thing. I tried it on a ATI AIW Radeon 7500 and it puked, but worked oK on a ATI AIW Radeon 8500, which tells me the graphics card is critical.

 

Yea you need a new GFX card man. Get a GeForce 6 series card, they are cheap and will run the C&C games perfectly.

 

Yeah, thats what I thought. I know I need a new card...I am exploring an upgrade.

If you have any better games than C&C Generals you might wanna get a better card like a GeForce 7 series.

 

C&C Generals will run fine on that card. You may have to dummy up the gfx settings.. but the game will run and remain playable.

Your system should run the game just fine. You won't be able to max out the settings, but you should be able to play. Here's the minimum specifications for the game:

Operating System: Windows 98/2000/ME/XP (Windows NT is Not Supported)
Processor: Pentium III 800 MHz or Higher
Video Card: 32 MB 3D Video Card
Disk Space: 1.8 GB HD
CD Speed: 8x or Faster
RAM: 128 MB RAM
DirectX: DirectX 8.1

 

YEAH IT WOULD! but u should think about upgrading to dx10,and a nice build for 1600 bucks cuz command and conquer 3 looks simply amazing.I never had the pleasure to play general because haha i wasnt to big into pcs back then when i spent 1400 bucks in 99 had one of the first cd burners,192 mb of ram,haha 40 gb harddrive and in 01 tried to run that game it didnt haha!I think everytime i read someones old specs how pcs die out so quick in a 3 month time theres no point to ever build a 2000 machine.

 

his system is to hold he needs a better pc to even think bout running that card u need power,a processor that can spit out the graphics,and ram but take my advice if uve been waiting or just saving get the 8 series of the nvidia cuz these games r gonna be amazing!!!
