found them in our shared apartment front door last week and no one knows what it is

Based upon what can be seen in the photos, it looks like a (hard wired) electronic/system control module(s).

These were in your "front door" area, accessible to general public?

 

yes main street in town open to public inside first door 2nd door is keyed .
i seen it last week and all 6 of us that stay in block have no idea what it is/for ,
if you could give any info in detail of what it could be i would be very great full

 

could the aerial be removed and used as a upgrade with a alfa 1w wifi adapter ? or would this be a bad idea ?

If the antenna isn't the right length it likely won't do any good.

Is there any way to get better images? These are less than 400 pixels on the long side and enlarging the image doesn't yield much in the way of details. What does that sticker say? Where do the wires go?

i had to down size so pics would show here


also the aerial was hidden behind bits of wood -loose not fixed-

wires go outside flat dont no where hidden out of site ie shop signs etc other wires are like power wires that lead to all flats

words on box are blachere others are smudged but thats just on shell i think i can open shell looks like screws only no locks so i might open it for pics tonight if that will help
